At Whiskey Creek, we love vintage etchings and have been producing stamps from them for well over a year now, but I'm simply unable to gin out rubber dies at the rate many stamp companies do.
Acetate is more forgiving than rubber and I have many images that I will never be able to edit enough to create rubber dies that meet my expectations for Whiskey Creek Stamps. Yet many of these images are well worth using in art, whether that be a card, a collage, assemblage, or even a mobile. The zodiac images I will soon be offering in acetate, for example, are too detailed to translate into stamps without removing many of the small elements that make them so beautiful. So I will be making these wonderful images available on acetate.
These images are printed on overhead acetate on a high-end copier. The toner will withstand the heat of an embossing gun. I've painted them with Radiant Pearls and embossed them with clear detail power. For techniques to use with acetate, take a look at our online gallery or cards and collages.
Alcohol or solvents known to dissolve toner cartridge powder, however, could be a problem. If you have any doubts about your medium, I recommend you test it on the copyright notice of the acetate sheets to see how it reacts with the toner. If you do have a solvent based paint or marker you really want to use on these images, just apply it to the back of the acetate image.
And by the way, you can always tell the toner side from the back of the acetate by checking whether the copyright notice reads frontwards or backwards!
Our latest addition to our sheets of acetate images is a set of paper dolls.
There is a 9-in. x 12-in. sheet of acetate for each of the four dolls, two boys and two girls. The fifth sheet is a miniature of the four different sets, the dolls sized perfectly for enclosing in a standard sized card.

Our latest addition to our sheets of acetate images is a set of zodiac signs. There are images here for all 12 signs, and the style of most of them blend well if you are planning to use them as a group.

Shakespeare's women is a set of magnificent images, 17 in all, plus the book title in it's vintage script. The complete set of images, four to a page (each perfectly sized for the standard half a sheet of cardstock folded). There is one additional acetate sheet with the 17th image sized for a 5 x 7 card, plus 8 copies of the old script on the book cover. The spelling, you may have noticed, is Shakspere.

Plates of stamps are a big investment and no matter how great I think my stamps are, I also know it sometimes takes more than an online picture or a hard copy catalog to really tell whether you want a stamp or a plate.
