By now you've heard a lot of comments from me that this classic stamping product works better with Whiskey Creek Stamps than that one, and here I am again with yet another suggestion.
Detail embossing powders are finer particled than the regular embossing powders, so they work a lot better with Whiskey Creek stamps than some of the coarser ones, especially the puffy and sandy ones. And yes, the detail powders come in a very small range of colors compared to many of the other types.
But you know what? I wouldn't trade my tub of clear embossing powder for any other color. I tried a number of those techniques for keeping embossing powder from getting all over the surface of my stamped image, and none of them work to my satisfaction, even the drafting powder my engineer son swears by.
It didn't take me long to discover that clear embossing powder may stick here and there where you don't want it to, but frankly, nobody notices. What's more, who needs lots of colors. The color of the stamp pad dye shows through very nicely, thank you.
I have found dye inks on coated paper stay wet plenty long enough to dip in a tub of embossing power. I always had trouble telling for sure whether or not the barely visible standard embossing ink had given me a perfect image without a few dry spots. With dye inks, I can SEE when there's a problem with the image before I dip it into the embossing powder tub.
And what's this tub I'm talking about? My long, low plastic container with a tight-fitting lid that I keep my pound of clear embossing powder in. Just the right size to slide a half sheet of card stock into the powder and let the powder slither down the entire sheet of the card and fall right back into the container. No more of these half-folded sheets of paper and trying to tap, tap, tap those last tenacious bits of ground plastic into a miniscule jar opening.
How much is a pound of clear embossing powder? About six cups. Available in four colors: clear, gold, black, and platinum.
I no longer carry detail embossing powders, but Rena Rustad, The Prairie Stamper, would be happy to fill your orders.
